Eco Design Log Burners

SIA Ecodesign is the European-wide programme to lower emissions. From 2022 all SIA Ecodesign Ready stoves will meet the Ecodesign requirements and are available now. Ecodesign Ready stoves can reduce particulate emissions by 90% compared to an open fire. [It is very important to note that any DEFRA stove purchased or installed before 2022 when ECODESIGN stoves come into full effect will still be fine to use]. In addition A clearSkies label on a wood burning appliance means you can be assured that the appliance you are buying meets all the energy and efficiency criteria, and the different levels allow you to identify how far beyond Ecodesign criteria they go in terms of reducing emissions and increasing efficiency. We welcome the Revised Air Quality Strategy and the Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) appointed HETAS and Woodsure to run the Ready to Burn fuel certification scheme. The scheme makes it easy for people to find the cleanest fuels for burning at home. Using fuels that are approved and labelled as Ready to Burn also means it’s easy to comply with Air Quality (Domestic Solid Fuels Standards) (England) Regulations 2020 that outlaw the sale of wet wood and housecoal, which are the most polluting fuels.
